U.K. citizens residence in Hungary

Britain formally left the European Union in 2020 and British citizens, who previously have enjoyed freedom of movement in Europe will be visa-exempt third-country nationals.
After the 1st of January this year, U.K. nationals will be subject to the same 90-day rule as travelers of countries outside the EU. This means British citizens can stay within the Schengen Area for 90 days out of every 180, but after that, you must either apply for residence permit or visa.
The Hungarian Government established a very favorable transition period, U.K. nationals may request a national permanent residence permit until the 31st of December 2021.
The authorities shall issue these permits without examine the criteria other third country nationals need to meet.
If a U.K. national has valid Hungarian residence when the application is submitted, no other document is required beyond the application form and valid travel documents. Even those can get residence permit who has not dispose valid address card but can credibly prove to have habitually residence in the territory of Hungary before 1 January 2021. Documents credibly verify the habitual Hungarian residence are required to be enclosed with the application.
A national permanent residence permit provides permanent resident status and the person shall have the right to reside in the territory of Hungary indefinitely. The validity period of a national permanent residence permit is 5 years.
The person with a permanent resident status is entitled to receive a personal identification document.
Those U.K. nationals and their third country national family members who are entering the territory of Hungary after 1 January 2021 (and previously not resided in Hungary) may apply for a residence permit with the specific purpose of their stay in accordance with the general rules set out by the Act II of 2007 on the Admission and Residence of Third-country Nationals.
Predicted from the end of 2022 British citizens will be obligated to complete the online ETIAS application form before setting off.
ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is the name of a new travel authorization system intended for short-term tourist or business visitors from countries with visa-free travel arrangements in the Schengen Area.
Citizens wishing to travel to the Schengen Area to work or study need to apply for a different type of visa, as the ETIAS is for tourism or business purposes. Once approved, an ETIAS travel authorization can be used for three consecutive years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
At the moment, there is no need for a European visa waiver for British citizens. UK citizens can move freely they only need to show their UK passport to be able to enter any EU country.
