· Who is an EEA citizen?

The citizens of Member States of the European Union and citizens of any State that is a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.

· Who is an EEA citizens family member?

A third-country national citizen who is

- the spouse of an EEA national;

- the direct descendants of an EEA national or their spouse descendants who are under the age of 21 years or are dependents;

- the dependent direct relatives in the ascending line of an EEA national or their spouse relatives;

- the partner with whom the EEA national has a registered partnership;

- any person whose entry and residence has been authorized by the competent immigration authority on grounds of family reunification

· What kind of document will justify the stay?

An EEA citizen shall be given a Registration Certification while their non-EEA family members shall be given a Registration Card.

· Who shall have the right to get a Registration Certification?

- Those EEA citizens who plans to pursue gainful employment and has sufficient resources for him/herself and his/her family members provide full financial cover for their stay in Hungary (medical, accommodation, transport and travel expenses).

- Those EEA citizens who enrolled at an educational institution and they have sufficient resources for themselves and their family members not to become an unreasonable burden on the social assistance system of Hungary during their stay

· Who shall have the right to get a Registration Card?

The family member of an EEA national if the EEA national plans to engage in gainful employment and has sufficient resources for him/herself and his/her family members.

The spouse and dependent child of an EEA national if the EEA national enrolled at an educational institution and have sufficient resources for him/herself and his/her family members.

· What are the mandatory enclosures to EEA citizens?

If the purpose of the residence is to pursue gainful activity:

- employment contract or

- valid contract or a statement containing the company’s important data or

- valid private entrepreneur’s license or similar authorization or

- documents to evidence that he/she is actively seeking employment

- other reliable means

If the purpose of the residence is the pursuit of studies:

- a certificate of admission from an educational institution

- a document to verify his/her student status

- other reliable means

For both type most enclosure:

- documents in proof of sufficient financial resources

- documents proving the existence of health insurance

- registration of the first residence in Hungary

· What are the further mandatory enclosures to non-EEA citizen family members?

Documents in proof of family ties:

- birth certificate;

- marriage certificate;

- registrar certificate in proof of registered partnership status;

- adoption document;

- any other document credibly attesting the existence of family relationship.
